A third-generation Montanan, Wailing Aaron Jennings was born with yodeling running through his blood; his great-grandfather was a singing cowboy in the 1920’s who wrote a book of songs and poetry. It was this book that brought the art of yodeling to Jennings, resulting in his exercising his vocals wherever possible. In 2019, he released his debut self-titled album full of original yodeling, Honky-Tonk and Western swing tunes that held deep to tradition while keeping up to date with the times. Wailing Aaron Jennings is exclusively premiering two new tracks with The Country Note: “Even Yodelers Get The Blues” and “It’s Gonna Get Worse.”
Jennings explains the backstory of the two tracks below:
“These two tracks were written in March of 2020. A familiar story to many at this point, but my tour had been canceled midway through, and I had a long drive to Montana from Texas to contemplate the future.
Making music had always been my happy place, and the whole world had suddenly turned on it’s head, and I just didn’t have that well of good feelings to draw on that I was used to. These songs helped me work through some of the darker emotions, and find a way to maintain a sense of humor during a challenging time for yodelers (and everybody else, too).
Since most professional recording studios were unavailable, I decided to record this at my home studio, and was lucky enough to be joined by my two good friends, John West (Bass) and Geoffrey Taylor (Fiddle/Mandolin) – My “Western Wingmen”. John brings 20 years of experience from playing in LA, and Geoffrey is a true virtuoso.”
