Exclusive Premiere: Waylon Hanel “Blame It On The Rain”

Who ever said “country music is no longer country” best not speak in front of  Waylon Hanel.  With a classic country tone and an incredible storyteller’s skill, this traditional country singer-songwriter and independent recording artist is living up to his outlaw namesake (yes, that Waylon). Remarkably self- taught, the Michigan native mixes outlaw country, blues, and southern rock into a traditional, yet original sound.  Today, Hanel is exclusively premiering the studio video for his latest single “Blame It On The Rain” with The Country Note.

From the first note, listeners know they are in for a good, honky-tonkin’, jukebox-dancin’ song.  But in true traditional country music form, behind that fun sound the lyrics tell a story of heartbreak.

Blame on the rain
Blame it on the whiskey
I don’t want to hear her name ’cause I hate the way it hits me
So pour me up another double shot of pain
Blame it on the whiskey
Blame it on the rain

“Traditional and outlaw country has always been the branch of country that speaks to me,” says Hanel. “Those songs weren’t afraid to be honest, and they always had a melody that made you want to sing along. ‘Blame It On The Rain’ has all of that. It’s a fun record with a little heartache mixed in, and I hope people have as much fun listening to it as we did making it.”
