Today, Houston’s Will Carter Band releases their homecoming album Had It All WrongFollowing years of recording and success in Nashville, including three singles hitting the Music Row Chart, WCB decided it was time to return back to Texas and the sounds that are the essence of the Lone Star State and themselves.  Premiering exclusively with The Country Note, “Raised Up Round Here” is one of those songs, encompassing that feeling when you realize that wherever you think you should be, nothing feels like home.

“‘Raised Up Round Here’ is a pedal-to-the-metal tale about a guy who is chomping at the bit to leave his home town in search of adventure and excitement,” says Carter. “After experiencing the world ‘out there,” he realizes that the home town feel of where he was raised is what he has really wanted all along. Whenever we are out on the road playing this song only makes us appreciate our friends, family and home base even more.”

Kicking off with drums and guitar, “Raised Up Round Here” has a catchy rhythm that stays with you even after the song concludes, making it the perfect summer road trip anthem to blast along as you drive with the windows – or top – down.  Carter’s vocals are like candy to the ears and you can feel his connection the lyrics of the song.

California coast took all my money
People up north said I talk kinda funny
And there ain’t enough stars in that big Texas sky to get her off my mind
Guess I went around the world looking for a girl
That was raised up round here
Knows every country road winding through nowhere
Church every Sunday, she’s a little bit bible but a little bit wilder
Answer to all my prayers
