“She was born into country music.” For some, it’s a generous statement, but for others – it’s 100% truth. Such is with Megan Barker, who has songwriting and country music in her DNA, literally; her father penned songs that were recorded by some of the industry’s biggest names – ever hear of Ronnie Milsap, Barbara Mandrell, or Hank Williams Jr.? She began performing at the age of 16 on the Las Vegas Strip and in 2017, returned to Music City to continue perfecting her craft of songwriting. Nine years later, Barker is set to release her debut album Humble Beginning, showcasing 13 songs she co-wrote including “How The West Got Wild” premiering exclusively with The Country Note Today.
“’How The West Got Wild’ is a sassy tune about the kinda cowgirl I am in my wildest dreams,” says Barker. “For three minutes I am a vivacious, formidable, untamed spirit. And you better watch out.”
The opening instrumental instantly puts the listener into the imagery of a western movie, just waiting for two gunslingers to show up and face off. Or in this case, one incredibly powerful female taking on whatever is headed for her.
