Experiences in life lead to the best songwriters, because they have the stories to tell.

Ben Gallaher brought a guitar to his.

Chris Ramos of Sons of Lions chatted with him for The Country Note, and if you have ever seen this man put hands on a guitar, you already know why we put him in the spotlight. Shut the front door. The thing sings.

He grew up in small-town Pennsylvania on ’90s country — Brooks & Dunn, Tim McGraw, BlackHawk — started guitar at six, and never really built a Plan B. Nashville was the plan. He rolled in at 19, went to Belmont, and a professor sent his music to Sony. Record deal. Debut EP. Then the long Nashville chapter everybody talks about and almost nobody survives with the fire still lit.

He did.

He hit the road as a teenager and kept hitting it — Blake Shelton, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hank Williams Jr., Lee Brice, Brantley Gilbert, Tyler Farr, 3 Doors Down. Singer. Songwriter. Lead guitarist. Taste of Country put him on a “20 Best Guitarists in Country Music” list next to Keith Urban, Vince Gill, Chet Atkins, and Brad Paisley. Oh my goodness.

Then came “Stomp.” One riff. Tens of millions of views. Thousands of fan videos. Peter Frampton and Kristin Chenoweth weighing in. That is the kind of internet moment you cannot fake.

The record he always wanted to make is Time, out on QHMG / Stone Country Records and produced by Neil and Patrick Thrasher. He started cutting it five days after his son River was born and finished it right before the kid turned one. Every song, every solo, every night on the road — it only comes with time. That is the title. That is the point. Anchor track “I’ll Take You” went to radio, got Most Added love, and he walked it onto The Kelly Clarkson Show. Saaweeet.

He also covers Bryan Adams’ “Cuts Like a Knife” and plays the guitar parts like he means it. Country Music Hall of Fame songwriter session. Ole Red On the Rise. Taste of Country RISERS for 2026. And for more than a decade he has taken a prison run he calls the Barbed Tour, because a song that gives somebody hope behind those walls is not a small thing.

Find him at bengallaher.com and on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube as Ben Gallaher.
