It’s been 14 years since former ACM Female Vocalist of the Year and Grammy nominee Sylvia has released an album, and that hiatus was well worth it – a gripping storyteller and testament, It’s All In The Family is pure gold.

Superb and touching songwriting encompasses this album, none more so than the second track, “Somebody’s Daughter.” A reminder of a common fact, everyone is someones child: “It’s kind of a different way of saying the ‘Golden Rule,’ in a way,” says Sylvia. “It’s meeting people, being curious about what they’re going through. You know some people are laughing, some people are crying….. just meeting people where they are.”

“I’m often talking to people about the practices in their life, so “Somebody’s Daughter” is shining the light on a practice of being conscious that people are going through hard times. Often. And people are rude or say something that hurts our feelings, it’s helpful to remember it’s not all about us. Often people project things on to us. And they may be having a really bad day then. It may be an opportunity to say ‘Hey, what’s going on with you?’ Let’s talk, ya know? Rather than be offended. I love the sentiment of that song.”

Available now, It’s All In The Family is a songwriting masterpiece that grabs the heart.
