This Friday, Stella Parton will release her 40th – yes 40th! – studio album when Survivor hits the shelves. The ten-song album was independently produced by Parton and recorded with engineer Mike Loudermilk at Nashville Sound Project House.

Each of the ten songs reflects on various issues in our society today – from the #MeToo movement, to Alzheimer’s, to divorce –  giving solid meaning to the album’s title. Eight of the tracks are Parton’s original songs while the other two are covers, including her take on the Bob Seger classic “Like A Rock” and the world-wide smash “Wake Me Up” from the Swedish DJ and producer Avicii, who passed away last year.

Survivor features Parton’s collaboration with Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member, the late Wayne Carson on her song “I Ain’t Leavin’ ‘Til I’m Even.”  Check out the exclusive premiere of the Track by Track Interview with Parton as she discusses the track below:

“A singer should be able to touch the listener with ‘three chords and the truth’ as Harlan Howard used to say, stated Parton in a recent press release about the album. “That was my approach to writing and recording this project, and I hope that these songs inspire anyone that hears them to press on through whatever challenges or opposition they find themselves up against – because we are all Survivors!”

Survivor will be available on March 29.
