Arkansas Country Music Awards Female Vocalist of the Year nominee Alexis Wilkins has released “GRIT” – her latest single and title track off her upcoming album set for this spring. A follow up to the successful single “Stand,” which hit the Top 10 on the iTunes charts, the track’s traditional country sound solidifies Wilkins’ path among the new generation of country artists doing their part to keep the legacy of classic country alive and well while staying true to one’s authentic, tough self.
“Genuine. Respect. Integrity. Tenacity. The only single word for a cowboy’s perseverance and a fighter’s spirit,” says Wilkins. “I wrote this song from an idea I had about how things used to be, how strong people were made, and how to keep your chin up when things get rough. I know that having grit has carried me through times in my life and I hope that through this song, people find strength in the discomfort and growth in the tough times. Country music is about real stories, real people, doin’ real life, and I hope that hearing this message is an inspiration to keep going. We’re all striving for better, stronger, more for our family, for our lives, heck, for our dogs. I’ve found that the answer to most problems in life is diggin’ your heels in and finding worth in your own grit”.”

Wilkins embodied the essence of “GRIT” visually in her new video, premiering today exclusively with The Country Note. She tips her hat to those of days before, but also those who currently tend the fields to help keep the heartland of this country still beating. “We wanted to film a video to capture the true spirit of grit, with a nod to the old west and the cowboys who made it great. We had such a great day filming it at an operational farm and want to give special thanks to Brilyn and her family!”
