Since forming in 2016, Sarah Vitort and Scott Gilmore, aka Fox and Bones, have been working non-stop to make their mark on the Americana landscape. Literally, non-stop since day one – their debut album The Remarkable Adventures Of was released weeks after they first met. The Portland, Oregon duo followed up with their sophomore release, Better Land, in-between touring stateside and in Europe, and earlier this year they released American Alchemy. The 9-track album completes the three-part journey (or “third times the charm” as they note on their website) that lead them to their niche of Americana pop-soul and well crafted, witty lyrics.
One of those tracks is “Dancing in the Aisles.” While specifically personal to the pair, the song’s message is universal to all who are in touch with not just necessarily their religious side, but spiritual as well.
“I wrote “Dancing in the Aisles” as a lighthearted exploration of my own personal spirituality, which began in the church at a young age, and has evolved into a more unitarian, “we are all one” ideology. This song explores how my upbringing in church instilled in me a love of music, and also is a humble declaration that though I can’t pretend to know for sure what happens when we die, I know that spreading joy through music is my purpose while I’m here. We shot the video with that same concept in mind.” – Fox and Bones
