Indie country artist Joe Hermes is ending 2024 with a one-two punch of singles: a rock anthem “American Muscle” (11/22) followed by the country track “Outgun The Outlaw” (12/13) and today he releases the cinematic music video exclusively with The Country Note.
Next to wild shoot-outs and intense chases on horseback (and sometimes both at the same time), a great poker scene is fundamental in a western. It’s not a just a game of cards, but a game of wits and of character. Enter “Outgun The Outlaw.”
“The song parallels a lover’s quarrel, verbal gunfire and fighting the good fight in defense; and the ultimate decision to lay the guns down or shoot it out,” says Hermes. “As a twist, the video storyline portrays a poker game at a western saloon as the backdrop. Instead of tension between two lovers, the husband and wife team together to outsmart the outlaw!”

The video features guest appearances by Hermes’ wife Edi and country music recording artist Kolt Barber.
“Outgun The Outlaw” was co-written by Hermes with Dale Oliver (Carrie Underwood, Billy Currington, LOCASH, Sawyer Brown, Blackhawk) who also produced the track. Stream the single here.
