Upon listening to “Better Than Mine“, it would be hard to guess that singer/songwriter Leah Belle Faser just celebrated her Sweet 16. But her debut single, released on August 18th, rings true of Faser’s maturity and skill and works as the perfect introduction to the Atlanta native who is set to release her debut EP Crossing Hermi’s Bridge on October 16. Today, Faser is adding even more of her grace and wisdom to the song with its official music video, premiering exclusively with The Country Note.
Dealing with a breakup is never easy, and sometimes it’s harder – much harder – for one side than the other. Faser’s lyrics tell of how she takes the high road and wishes her ex “the best” as they go their separate ways, never thinking he would literally move on without even one last thought of her. She sees him around town with a new girl on his arm each time, regretting the decision to wish him well:
Through the window I see your new world
As I hear the echo of my final words … in that final fight
When I said I wish you the best
But I didn’t know that would mean you’d be doing just fine
Without me in your life
A new girl every night
I guess your best is better than mine
“In the ‘Better Than Mine’ video, I challenged myself to confront the emotions of the subject of the song as authentically as possible,” says Faser. “It’s a super vulnerable song for me in terms of both writing it and performing it in the video. I think the realization of having meant less to a person with whom you were ending a relationship than they meant to you is definitely one people can connect to.”

Faser’s maturity doesn’t end with her art. A strong advocate for those in foster care, Faser has partnered with the non-profit Bloom whose mission is to “recruit, support and train our foster families who give displaced children hope and a home life for the next phase of their lives.” Faser has been working with Bloom for years, since she organized a clothing drive for the non-profit while in the 3rd grade.
