Exclusive Video Premiere: Shantell Ogden “Cowgirlin’”

The cowboy.  From real-life cattle ranchers, to Hollywood’s Wil Anderson through to the Duttons, the weight of this word is larger than life.  But what about cowgirls?  Sure there’s Annie Oakley (and Reba!), Calamity Jane and most recently the movie “Cowgirls and Angels” – but still.  The girls deserve a bit more acknowledgement.  That’s where country artist Shantell Ogden steps in.  Set for release on September 15, the Utah native’s new single “Cowgirlin’“ is shining that spotlight on those who love to ride, get the work done, and still find a way to have a lot of fun. Today, Ogden is exclusively premiering the music video with The Country Note to bring that spotlight front and center on the screen.

The upbeat tempo of “Cowgirlin'” reflects the energy that it takes to be a cowgirl while still saying “we know how to have fun.” The video brings all of that to life with Ogden, her friends, and a few beautiful horses.

“Cowgirlin'” is an anthem for women who aren’t afraid to get a little bit of dirt under their nails and get rowdy with their friends,” says Ogden. “The video was shot just outside of Nashville with the help of my friends at Hollywood Hooves. I love how we captured the authentic spirit of being a cowgirl!”

Got to grab the rains and swing in the saddle
At the crack of dawn, I’m ready for battle.
It’s true. Doing what I got to.
Blue collar dreams and red dirt trails.
Cattle ain’t going to work themselves.
That’s right. I’m burning daylight.

Cowgirlin’ ridin’ around
Cowgirlin’ sun up to sun down
Better bet your boots I have western roots
If you’re looking for me I’ll always be
Cowgirlin’
