Who Is Conor Clemmons?
Warm vocals. Singalong hooks. A storyteller’s heart. Connor Clemons is all of that and more. The Charlotte, North Carolina native has been steadily carving his lane in Nashville’s country pop scene since moving there in 2013. With his new single “Nothin’ Like Love” out October 17, and his first-ever headlining show on the horizon, Clemons stands as one of the most exciting rising voices to watch in 2025.
When we sat down to talk, it was easy to see why his sound resonates with so many. Connor is grounded, grateful, and deeply intentional about his craft. “I’m just a little boy from Charlotte who grew up with a single mom who told me anything was possible,” he said. “I moved to Nashville to chase a dream, and for the past fourteen years I’ve given everything I have to it.”
On His New Single, “Nothin’ Like Love”
Conor Clemons’ new release blends modern polish with nostalgic roots. “The inspiration behind the song came more from the intent of the sound,” he explained. “I told my co-writers Griffin Palmer and Mitch Clark that I wanted to tap back into that late ’90s, early 2000s country, that Rascal Flatts square soul sound, and pair it with modern storytelling.”
The result? A track that feels both familiar and fresh. “It’s something outside the box for me but still true to the country music I grew up loving,” he said. “We paired Dan + Shay with old school Rascal Flatts energy, and I think we nailed it.”
On Sharing the Stage with Big Names
Clemons has shared the stage with artists as varied as Walker Hayes, Danielle Bradbery, and even Waka Flocka Flame, a performance he remembers vividly. “That one was wild,” he laughed. “They wanted my energy to match Waka’s energy. It didn’t matter that it was country; they wanted that high-level performance. That’s what I’m known for. If you come to my show, you better bring a sweat rag because we’re going to have a good time.”
On Headlining His First Nashville Show
After fourteen years in the city, Clemons will headline his first show in Nashville on October 23 at The Back Corner in Germantown. “I’ve done so much outside of town, festivals, tours, CMA Fest, but to finally headline my own show here means the world,” he said. “My friends, family, and industry folks will be there. I’m pouring everything into it. I want it to leave a mark on this city.”
On Being a CMA Ambassador
Clemons is also one of the 2025 CMA Member Ambassadors, part of the inaugural group helping to grow awareness of membership benefits. “A lot of people don’t know they can be CMA members,” he explained. “When I became one, I was an independent artist without a nine-to-five job. Having access to things like health insurance, a benefit of being a CMA membership, was huge for me.”
Since the ambassador program launched earlier this year, CMA membership applications have skyrocketed. “We’ve had over 900 new members, compared to about 180 in a typical year,” Clemons said proudly. “To be part of that growth, to know we’re helping artists and educators connect, is really special.”
On Connection and Authenticity
When asked what he hopes fans take away from his shows, Clemons shared a story about saving all summer at 16 to see Garth Brooks. “We were in the nosebleeds,” he said, “but I felt like I was on the front rail. That taught me something. It’s not about where you sit or how much you paid; it’s about how the artist makes you feel. I want every person at my show to leave feeling like they were part of something special.”
That kind of heart defines who Connor Clemons is, authentic, hardworking, and dedicated to creating moments that last. “As a person of color in country music, I’ve faced my share of challenges,” he said. “But I’m not trying to fit into the machine. I’m building my own and doing it my way.”
In Closing
For Clemons, the path forward is about authenticity and connection. “The music, the content, the shows, it’s all about being true to who I am,” he said. “I’m focused on Nothin’ Like Love right now and giving it everything I’ve got.”
