In an era where modern country radio frequently leans into slick pop production and synthetic beats, rising Texas troubadour Colby Lee Swift stands firmly as an unwavering guardian of traditional country music. Today, the Midfield, Texas native officially releases his highly anticipated new single, “Wish It Was You,” via Hollow Point Records – a deeply reflective, fiddle-and-steel-laced track that showcases Swift’s authentic storytelling, rich baritone and reverence for his classic country roots.
Penned by Mason Horne and produced by Brent Rader, “Wish It Was You” tackles the universal ache of hindsight, growth and lost love. The song follows a narrator reflecting on a past relationship through the clarity of time, grappling with the haunting realization that despite moving forward, the heart stubbornly anchors itself to what might have been. With crisp, organic instrumentation that nods to the golden era of 1990s country, Swift delivers a poignant performance that feels both instantly familiar and distinctly fresh.
Rooted in Texas Tradition
Swift’s authentic sound was forged early on his family’s ranch in Midfield, Texas, learning guitar at age five and taking the stage by 17 under the influence of legends like George Strait and John Conlee. That groundwork has translated into industry momentum, recently earning Swift a worldwide publishing deal with BMG and booking representation with WME as he continues to expand his profile nationwide.
An Authentic Future for Country Music
With “Wish It Was You,” Colby Lee Swift proves that traditional country music isn’t merely a nostalgia act, it’s a vibrant, living art form when executed with conviction and heart. As he continues to build his footprint from Texas to Music City, Swift remains firmly focused on what matters most: compelling storytelling and songs that resonate deeply with real people.
