Gethen Jenkins is “Whiskey Bound” in New Music Video

Exclusively Premiered on ‘The Boot’

Nashville, TN – Gethen Jenkins has released the music video for his “tear in a beer” inspired track, “Whiskey Bound.” The music video exclusively premiered on The Boot (here) and follows the recent release of Jenkins’ debut full-length album Western Gold (RED MUSIC/Five Music.), which critics have already praised as “rowdy” and “raw” (Farce the Music). Watch the music video HERE.

With 100% writing credit on the song, Jenkins describes “Whiskey Bound” as being a deeply personal track on the album, stating “This song is my anthem as far as what I’ve been through and who I am as a person,” Gethen shares of the song, “I wrote this song when I was in a pretty dark place.  It’s about moving on from a failed relationship to being my own person and being true to who I am and moving into a positive light.”

Directed by L.A. based filmmaker, Cole Needham, Jenkins filmed two music videos over two days including the previously released, boisterous, dive-bar hanging video for “Basket Case” (view here). Filmed in the hills of Silverado Canyon, California, flowing creeks and unexpected wildlife added a special touch to the video. “We were lucky enough to come across some rattlesnakes, and you can’t plan for stuff like that,” director Needham says of the opportunistic wildlife, “it was organic, and it fit the music and the feel we were going for perfectly.”

The Outlaw singer-songwriter released his debut full-length album, Western Gold, via RED MUSIC/Five Music on July 26. Recorded in Nashville’s Sputnik Studio, Jenkins’ worked with highly respected four-time Grammy-winning producer, Vance Powell who is known for his work with Chris Stapleton, Jack White, and Buddy Guy. Born in West Virginia and raised in an Indian village in rural Alaska, Western Gold highlights the whiskey-soaked honkytonk sound Jenkins’ grew up on, citing Merle Haggard, Billy Joe Shaver, Charlie Daniels, Waylon Jennings, and even Pearl Jam as his greatest influences. Western Gold is now available via all digital retailers. Listen to it HERE.

Ahead of the release, Billboard gave fans an exclusive listen to the album’s leading ballad, “Strength of a Woman,” while Wide Open Country premiered the music video for current single “Basket Case.” The Marine Corps inspired song also landed on Rolling Stone’s “10 Best Country and Americana Songs to Hear Now,” saying it “…hits all the outlaw-country marks, with Jenkins taking pride in the very things that separate him from normal society.” Jenkins co-wrote the track with Aaron Raitiere, whose most recent cornerstone includes writing “I’ll Never Love Again” with Lady Gaga, Natalie Hemby and Hilary Lindsey for the blockbuster A Star Is Born. Listen to “Basket Case” HERE.

The singer-songwriter released a previously successful six-song EP titled Where The Honkytonk Belongs in July 2017. The project gained airplay on Sirius XM’s Outlaw Country, as well as becoming one of the top-selling Outlaw Country albums on iTunes.

After serving eight years in the U.S. Marines, Jenkins settled down in Southern California, where he has built a dedicated fan base, being honored with the Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year awards at 2017’s California Country Awards.
