Nashville, TN – Wheelhouse Records hitmaker, Granger Smith, released his anticipated new single “Happens Like That” worldwide on Friday (5/19). As he told People.com, Granger recalled it happened like that when he first laid eyes on his wife Amber, an actress, when she auditioned for one of his music videos back in 2009. “When she walked in,” he says now, “that was it.” Not unexpectedly, she got the part. Fast-forward seven months later: The two were engaged – a natural finish for the song’s lyrics, as well. The couple is now parents to three children and their oldest, London, is her daddy’s biggest fan. Granger shared on his socials that she was the “First girl to know the words… #HappensLikeThat.”
Co-written by Tyler Hubbard (Florida Georgia Line), Jordan Schmidt, Justin Wilson and Andy Albert, the track is the debut off his upcoming album due out this fall. As told to Taste of Country about the collaborative environment in which the song was written, Granger says, “The neat thing about this group is that everybody is a lyricist. Some of the guys are better at the fast words, some of the guys are better at the deeper meaning of what the lines are, and some of the guys are better at the poetry of it, the singability of it,” he observes. “And everybody has different melodies in their heads, so you bring those melodies together and you get a pretty fun song.”
