Having now lived nine hours and twelve years from my family in Iowa, I’ve often wrestled with the feeling of missing out… birthdays, holidays, coffee on the porch with mom, skeet shooting on Sundays with Dad, getting older with siblings, watching my high school friends raise their babies,” explains Whitters. “ I know I’m where I’m supposed to be right now, but it’s something I’ve had to come to terms with by being here in Nashville. No matter the distance your dreams may take you, this song is about showing up and being present as much as possible for both the people and moments that bring your life so much joy.”

The new single follows the release of “Ten Year Town,” Whitters’ first new music in 4 years. Rolling Stone Country named “Ten Year Town” one of the “10 Best Country, Americana Songs of the Week” and said, “Hailey Whitters makes the musicians’ struggle sound delicate and beautiful on ‘Ten Year Town,’ a gentle ballad co-written with Brandy Clark about sticking it out no matter your quote-unquote sell-by date”. MusicRow said, “Whitters displays a secure sense of self, leaning in to new, raw sounds and textures to translate the coming home.”

Saving Country Music proclaimed, “‘Ten Year Town’ exemplifies how we can take our failures and frustrations, and through the gift of inspiration, channel that energy into something of beauty, and hopefully, something that will result in our greatest success. Whitters’ forthcoming album The Dream follows her 2015 debut Black Sheep.

As a writer for Carnival Music, she has written songs with Little Big Town (“Happy People”), Alan Jackson (“The Older I Get”), and Martina McBride (“Low All Afternoon” & “The Real Thing”).
