Nashville, Tenn. – Today, Nashville singer-songwriter Hannah May Allison releases her new single, “Don’t Hate the Idea”, a song about a new romance where you are trying to keep expectations low, but hiding from yourself that you desperately hope it’ll work out. The wry, understated lyrics are sure to relate to anyone who has ever wanted to “play it cool” in a new relationship for fear of jinxing it. Produced by Zachary Manno and co-written with Drea Gordon, this single showcases the pop side of HMA’s country repertoire. Following the success of her previous single “Safe”, which charted on country radio at #81, Hannah May is excited to have “Don’t Hate the Idea” as her third single of 2021. The single can be found on iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and wherever music is streamed.
Nashville singer/songwriter Hannah May Allison grew up in Palo Alto, California, in the heart of Silicon Valley, and a half-hour drive to San Francisco. Like most California girls, Hannah May grew up listening to pop music. At an early age she also developed a deep love of traditional country music through the influence of her mother, formerly a professional country singer who hails from the western plains of Kansas. Being a part of such a musical family, Hannah started singing and writing songs on the guitar in high school and moved to Nashville right after graduation. Hannah May’s laid back West Coast personality mixed with her southern roots makes her the definition of California country.
Hannah attended Belmont University and signed her first publishing deal shortly out of college. As a songwriter, Hannah has written with some of Nashville’s best writers, played at top venues like the world famous Bluebird Cafe, and has even secured several cuts with other artists. As an artist, Hannah has built quite a buzz through her recent single releases. Within this past few years, Hannah’s music has been featured on Country Music Television, TheBoot.com, Radio Disney Country, along with editorial playlist adds from both Spotify and Apple Music. On country radio, Hannah May Allison’s previous single “Safe” was featured on Women of iHeartCountry, which allowed “Safe” to chart on country radio’s top 100, with her single at #81. Her brand new single “Don’t Hate the Idea” is out now, and available to stream on all music platforms. Be sure to follow Hannah May on all social media platforms to keep updated on the latest!
