Pays Tribute to Member Kate Hasting’s Late Father

Inspired by the love of member Kate Hasting’s parents, the song’s release is timely: the pair were in a fatal accident this summer that took her dad’s life and left her mom critically injured. Paying homage to their time together, the song paints a bittersweet memory of a simplistic and relatable American love story.
“At first, it felt weird to release this song in the fall, as it has always had this summer feel,” Hasting told Parade of the song. “But we realized it’s the song that lyrically made the most sense. People want to know artists and this song celebrates my parents and where we are in telling our story.”
Though the accident temporarily put a halt to the Hasting & Co. project, the duo knew quitting was out of the question.
“The loss of my father has been devastating, but he helped start this band. We are honored to be able to tell a story that honors my parents through this song.”
Co-produced by Hasting & Co. members Hasting and Josh Beale with Tyler Smith and Robbie Artress, the track was written by Hasting, Beale and veteran songwriter Curt Chambers. The video for the single will premiere in early 2019.
