Memphis to Mexico‘s three lead singles “Yellow Roses,” “Happy Birthday to Me,” and “Blue Yodel in G” released in succession throughout the fall with recognition in New Music Friday editorial playlists. The band is just getting started on this new chapter of their career and they aren’t slowing down. “We were really excited to work with Richard Young from The Kentucky Headhunters for ‘Memphis to Mexico.’ We wrote over 20 songs, and Richard really helped pick and craft the best ones. And, of course, just the stories he would tell between takes was worth the price of admission. He’s a living piece of history grown in Kentucky soil and running on Michelob Ultra.” -The Comancheros
Memphis to Mexico Tracklist
1. “Old Mexico”
A rousing opening track that packs a punch with 80s-reminiscent guitar riffs and lead singer Tanner Jones’ husky vocals.
2. “Shoot Me Down”
Laden with satirical language, “Shoot Me Down” showcases The Comancheros’ infectious personalities that reflect modern cowboy principles.
3. “If I Was a Cowboy”
Sitting comfortably in the middle of the LP, this track is a sexy rock ballad that lets the lead vocals and electrifying guitar solo shine.
4. “Yellow Roses”
The record’s lead single, the classic country music concept of seeing a lost love in everything is connected to the striking image of yellow roses.
5. “Happy Birthday to Me”
The band’s September release of “Happy Birthday to Me” coincided perfectly with the change of the seasons and is a tongue-in-cheek take on the anti-celebration of one’s special day.
6. “Blue Yodel in G”
A blend of southern rock motifs and blue-collar storytelling, the third and final single from the album holds cross-genre success within its grasp.
7. “If I Could Pick a Way to Go”
An acoustic bluegrass-inspired tune with flawless execution and a keen ear for blending the old with the new, the closing track of Memphis to Mexico serves as a humble example of the band’s raw talent.
