WB3 TO CO-HEADLINE 4 SHOWS WITH THE INFAMOUS STRINGDUSTERS
IN OCTOBER AND PERFORM AT MAJOR FALL FESTIVALS INCLUDING MERLEFEST, ROMP AND MORE
GALWAY, IRELAND—Heralded bluegrass/Americana band We Banjo 3 (WB3) is pleased to announce their return to the U.S. for fall and winter tours in 2021. Touring kicks off with a performance on September 17 at Romp Bluegrass Roots & Branches Fest in Owensboro, KY, followed by two performances at the prestigious Merlefest in Boone, N.C., marking their third appearance at the festival where they have become fan favorites. After winding through the Southeast, the band co-headlines with The Infamous Stringdusters for 4 shows in the latter half of October. WB3 returns to the U.S. in December for their “A Winter Wonderful” tour, a special holiday performance celebrating the season. For a full list of tour dates, please visit webanjo3.com.
Debuting in the U.S. in 2012, We Banjo 3 is a Galway and Nashville-based quartet––comprised of two sets of brothers, Enda & Fergal Scahill and Martin & David Howley––who seamlessly converge the shared and varied traditions of Americana, Bluegrass, and Celtic music with pop-sensible songcraft to create a truly unique and gratifying signature sound. Brilliantly commanded instruments––banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and percussion––and their infectious energy have made them fan favorites at a broad range of festivals including BottleRock, Summer Camp, ROMP, Wintergrass, Milwaukee Irish Fest and more. Actor/comedian and musician Steve Martin says of the band, “We Banjo 3…are making waves…here in America. They are playing the banjo in a style that I didn’t even know could be played like that.” Their recordings, Haven (2018) and Roots To Rise Live (2019), both reached the #1 position on Billboard’s Bluegrass chart.
WB3’s last U.S. tour in March of 2020 abruptly ended due to the Covid 19 pandemic. During the pandemic, WB3 kept the creative juices flowing with the release of a single in June of 2021. Their cover of Tom Petty’s “Wildflowers” featured special guests Steve Ferrone (The Heartbreakers) and Kiana June Weber (Gaelic Storm) and received strong support from Sirius/XM’s Bluegrass Junction. The bands two epic live streamed shows, Live From Ireland in March and Light of Summer in June, sold close to 2000 tickets per show and kept their loyal fans engaged. WB3 also produced a podcast (Season 2 features Bela Fleck) and worked on writing songs for a new release in 2022.
