THE RISING COUNTRY ARTIST SHARES HIS STORY WITH PEOPLENOW
Using “Blank Stares” to put a spotlight on the need to find a cure, the rising country artist performs the song and shares his story at every show since he wrote it. He also brings his mother on stage with him any time he plays a show in his home state of Iowa. All proceeds from the song itself will forever benefit Abe’s Garden, a memory care center in Nashville that Allen personally selected.
“My faith is everything and I was just like, ‘Man. God is talking to me,’” Allen told People earlier this year. “I just felt like he was saying, ‘Buddy, I gave you a voice. I gave you the talent to write songs, so write a song for your momma.’ It kept hitting me wave after wave like, ‘Write a song that’ll fight against Alzheimer’s.’” He went on to explain, “This is my purpose — why God put me on the Earth.”
Crediting his mother as the first to introduce him to Country music, Allen’s early influences include Brooks & Dunn, John Michael Montgomery and George Strait, among others. She also encouraged him to make the move to Nashville from rural Iowa five years ago to pursue his dream of songwriting.
Allen, who debuted “Blank Stares” earlier this year with Sirius XM’s The Highway, is currently on the road throughout the fall including a special performance for The Alzheimer’s Association’s Rita Hayworth Gala in New York on October 23rd.
