Hear “It’s Simple,” available everywhere Friday (3.16)
Hailing from Burgin, Kentucky, population 965 people, Dillion Carmichael is the breed of Vern Gosdin, Waylon Jennings, and Merle Haggard-influenced songwriting mixed with his mother’s family pedigree, her brothers John Michael Montgomery and Montgomery Gentry’s Eddie Montgomery. To say he knows a thing or two about music is putting it lightly, and proving just that, he’s enlisted an impressive list of collaborators on his debut album (coming Fall 2018), which was recorded at Historic RCA Studio A in Nashville.
Produced and stamped with acoustic guitar by GRAMMY award-winning Dave Cobb, the first track titled “It’s Simple” flaunts the talents of Jennings’ former pedal steel player Robby Turner. In fact, all of the musicians on the song can be heard across recordings by Chris Stapleton, Kris Kristofferson, Sturgill Simpson, Jamey Johnson, Brent Cobb and many others.
“This song is about appreciating the simplicity of living in a small country town,” says Carmichael. “I loved growing up in a small town. I hope that when people hear this song they’re reminded of the simple things that really matter in life. Love is for making, kids are for raising and home is a place in your heart… no matter where you come from.”
Carmichael shared the record’s first single “It’s Simple” via Billboard Thursday (3.15), and it is available everywhere Friday (3.16).
