Joe Hanson Grapples With Heartache In New “Part Of Me” Video

A relative newcomer to country music, Joe Hanson seems to have a crafted veteran’s knowledge for creating music that is infectious, relatable, and stylistically country.  With vocals and a vibe likened to that of Dan + Shay, the Naperville, IL native was raised on Christian music, but it was his playing around with different sounds that had him discovering country music was his calling, resulting in making the move to Music City.

Once in Nashville, Hanson sat in on songwriter circles and had opportunities opening for veterans Brantley Gilbert, Randy Houser, Russell Dickerson and Lindsay Ell. This past March he released his first single “Part Of Mewhich he co-wrote with Victoria Banks and Justin Morganand yesterday CMT premiered the track’s music video, produced by Austin Shaw.  Watch the video here.

A music video is often a picture or vision for all to see; words sung by an artist and their accompanying videos can provide a different tale from the words we hear. “Part of Me” speaks of that imaginary person inside who contemplates decisions that have been made, a relationship that has come and gone, thus placing regrets on oneself. The video is interspersed with Hanson in the present and in the past, implying that his mind is also in both elements of time. This notion is eloquently captured with moments from a past love – enjoying each other at home or out for drinks – then cut into the present where Hanson is either jamming with his band or out alone, contemplating the questions that part of him has.

“Part of Me” gets stuck in your head and is the perfect single leading up to his upcoming EP to be released in 2020.  Hanson, with his charming good looks, tenor vocals, and his innate ability to write songs that are relatable and catchy, will send this country crooner from newcomer to veteran in no time.
