BENTON, Ky – Country legend and Kentucky native John Conlee was recently awarded the first ever Legends Award by the Kentucky Country Music Association during his performance at the Kentucky Opry. The award was created to honor an artist who is not only from Kentucky, but has also promoted Kentucky throughout their career in both music and interviews.
“It is always gratifying to be recognized by those from my home state of Kentucky. My profound thanks to the Kentucky Country Music Association and Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin for their very kind honors,” said Conlee.
Along with his award, Conlee received a letter from Kentucky Governor Matthew Bevin recognizing not only his successful career but his dedication to country music, the “Common Man” and the state of Kentucky as well. Bevin noted that this award was a “perfectly fitting tribute.”
“John Conlee is a perfect fit for our first Legend Award,” said Kenneth Reynold, President and Founder of the Kentucky Country Music Association. “He has never forgotten where he came from and has been a great promoter of not only country music but of Kentucky.”
