Justin Colvard Dreams of a Road Trip Getaway with His New Single, “Gulf Coast Interstate”

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Singer-songwriter Justin Colvard dreams of a road trip getaway with his latest single, “Gulf Coast Interstate.” The song is available to stream and purchase at this link.

“Gulf Coast Interstate” was produced by Mark Dreyer at Nashville Connection studio, and features Dreyer and Colvard on all instruments.

The track opens with a powerful backbeat anchored by an instantly memorable electric guitar figure all served up with a soulful B3 organ that washes over the song like waves on a beach. Colvard’s gritty and confident vocals cut through the mix to deliver a tale about his longing to ditch the workaday world, pick his girl up and break away to start a new life somewhere where the gulf coast waters beckon.

“I’m fed up with this nine to five
Working like a dog and barely getting by
Thinking today is a good day
For us to pack up our things and ditch this town

No clue where we’ll end up
Flip a quarter let it decide for us
Heads or tails it don’t matter to me
As long as I’m with you, it’s right where I wanna be”

As the intensity builds and Colvard’s vocals become more urgent it’s clear there’s no turning back as the road trip dream becomes reality.

“Doing ninety driving in the fast lane
Heading south on a Gulf Coast Interstate
Windows rolled down salt in the air
Ripped the rear view off cause there’s nothing to see there
Feet on the dash she’s singing along
Knows the word to every Jimmy Buffet song
My hearts like this guitar girl it keeps on strumming
A change is coming”

For Colvard, the song is somewhat semi-autobiographical. A Florida native by way of Texas, Nashville, and Missouri, he knows about change and chasing dreams.

“For 4-5 years in a row, my family would come down to the Gulf Coast for vacation,” Colvard says. “Every year we would find ourselves falling in love with this area more and more, and we’d always talk about moving down here. Every year we would go out looking for houses. We would always leave vacation really optimistic about moving down to the beach. As the story goes, we would get home from vacation and our dreams of moving to the Gulf would slowly wither away because of life. The following years would come around and the same thing. In 2019 we came down for vacation and we finally made the decision to move down here in September 2020. Come to find out, we were doing exactly what so many others that either want to move here or have already moved here does. I wrote this song about all of that.”

Colvard recently partnered with Beachbilly Lifestyle as a Brand Ambassador. It’s a perfect fit for the beach loving troubadour who spends his nights entertaining fans everywhere from Gulf Shores to Panama City Beach.
