NASHVILLE, Tenn. — 4X AMA winner and multi-Platinum entertainer Kane Brown achieves the best country EP debut of 2020, as his critically-acclaimed Mixtape Vol. 1 enters the Billboard Top Country Albums chart at No. 2 with over 22,000 consumption units. The seven-song collection’s impressive on-demand streams total is this year’s highest first-week showing since Sam Hunt’s SOUTHSIDE album debut. With three titles in the Top 20 (Mixtape Vol. 1, Platinum Experiment and Double-Platinum Kane Brown), Brown joins Garth Brooks, Chris Stapleton, Florida Georgia Line and Kacey Musgraves as the only artists to accomplish this since 2017, when the Billboard Top Country chart first reflected total consumption, blending traditional album sales, track equivalent albums, and streaming equivalent albums.

On the heels of his Mixtape Vol. 1 debut, Brown is confirmed to appear on NBC’s “Today” this Friday, August 28. The 26-year-old singer-songwriter will perform his timely ballad, “Worldwide Beautiful,” which he released on June 4, two days after the music industry’s sector-wide Blackout Tuesday.

The RCA Nashville/Zone 4 recording artist first premiered the song on national television at the 2020 BET Awards alongside Grammy-nominated gospel singer, Jonathan McReynolds. The track benefits the Boys and Girls Club of America to advocate for justice and equality.

“Worldwide Beautiful,” a selection featured on his Mixtape Vol. 1 EP, has been acclaimed by Billboard, Variety, and CMT, among others, calling it an “honest and powerful and poignant way to change the way we all see color.” Sounds Like Nashville praised it as a “big picture anthem,” with Radio .com adding, “This is the song the world needs to hear right now.”

Released August 14, Mixtape Vol. 1 was praised by the Evening Star as a batch of “immediately memorable” songs, calling Brown a “new kind of star.” Included on the EP are Brown’s two current singles, the Top 5-and-climbing country smash, “Cool Again,” and Brown’s recently-released Top 40 hit, “Be Like That,” a collaboration with Swae Lee and Khalid. Brown released his music video for “Cool Again (feat. Nelly)” on August 7, followed by “Be Like That” video with Swae Lee and Khalid on August 19. Another collaboration among the EP’s seven tracks, all of which Brown co-wrote, is his duet with John Legend, “Last Time I Say Sorry,” which inspired People to comment, “John Legend and Kane Brown are a musical force to be reckoned with.”
