NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Rising country singer/songwriter, Karissa Ella, kicked off a collection of songs that built her, The Acoustic Sessions, with a cover of Jessica Andrews’ 2001 smash hit “Who I Am.” Over the past year, Karissa took the time to rediscover who she is as an artist and as a woman. As she listened back to the music she grew up on, she realized that the style of country music embodied who she is in a more authentic way. The Acoustic Sessions will include some of Karissa’s favorite songs from country music’s past along with Jenee Fleenor (2x CMA Musician of the Year) on fiddle and background vocals and Daniel Newell on acoustic guitar. Listen to her stunning cover of “Who I Am” here, exclusively premiered by Parade.
“‘Who I Am’ was one of my favorite songs growing up. The honest lyrics were so relatable then and even more now! I am honored to cover this song and excited to hear what people think of my take on this iconic country song!” says Karissa Ella.
“Yes, the song may sound familiar, but Karissa Ella gives ‘Who I Am’ her own sweet acoustic country flare. A cover of the Jessica Andrews hit, this track showcases Ella’s spot-on traditional country stylings with Jenee Fleenor (2x CMA Musician of the Year) featured on fiddle and background vocals. The result is an intimate interpretation of this declaration of a confident sense of self.” – Laura B. Whitmore, Parade
