“….a song with a big message.” – American Songwriter
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Singer/Songwriter Kelleigh Bannen has released “The Optimist,” a new single inspired by her time at home. Co-written by Bannen, Will Bowen and Claire Douglas, the song was recorded in Bannen’s kitchen during quarantine and takes a reflective look at one of the most important relationships in her life, detailing glimpses of simple, real-life moments that showcase how transformative love can be. “The pace of all of our lives has slowed down so much, and I need a little extra hope right now… doesn’t everybody? This song is about seeing the world with a fresh, and hopeful perspective. It was recorded as a simple piano vocal, and was only ever supposed to be a demo. When I heard the song back, it just struck me differently in this season we’re all weathering, so I wanted to share it,” said Bannen.
“The Optimist” follows Bannen’s highly-successful and independently released album Favorite Colors, which was featured on NBC’s “Today,” Billboard, People, iHeart, Rolling Stone, CMT and SiriusXM’s “The Highway.” A co-writer on all 14 songs across the album, CMT called Bannen an artist who has, “…never compromised the integrity of her sound or point of view as a storyteller,” and Sounds Like Nashville added “…one of Nashville’s best songwriters.”
Bannen’s tell-it-like-it-is approach and unapologetic style has garnered a groundswell of support from fans, industry and press. Bannen’s podcast This Nashville Life offers up a glimpse behind the scenes from music industry insiders and was featured by The Washington Post, NPR’s On Point and iTunes New & Noteworthy. This past year, Bannen was tapped as the official host of Apple Music’s first-ever country music show “Today’s Country,” which airs live on Beats 1 at 10 a.m. CT every Sunday and is available on demand on Apple Music.
