Off the back of the success of her last single “I Found Me”, which has already racked up over 70.000 streams on Spotify, UK Country-Pop artist Kelsey Bovey is back with her most eclectic and mature work to date in the form of “XOXO.”
The EP begins with “Another Word” a Gabby Barrett influenced heartbreak track that provides her listeners with her most explorative sonic attempt to date as far as production is concerned. A big drum sound combined with melodic reverb laden piano really sets the tone for what’s to come from the record.
‘30% Spirit’ embraces the vulnerability that is often shown throughout Bovey’s music but this track brings a sense of songwriting intelligence far beyond her 19 years.
Finally the EP is rounded off by “Told Me The Truth,” a track reminiscent of an early Taylor Swift, that encaptures a love story told only the way Bovey knows how, and that’s with her heart on her sleeve.
“I Found Me” in isolation has already brought Bovey’s music to a larger audience through its streaming success; “XOXO” with its eclectic tracklist and considered songwriting can only be a plus for this young artist.
When speaking about the record Bovey states:
“I wanted the music in this record to be a complete extension of who I am as a person. I wanted to incorporate the worst and best parts of my teenage years into 4 songs that I knew I could communicate to an audience because they were autobiographical in nature. I’m so grateful to all the people who continue to support what I do, and I really hope they enjoy these songs which truly represent who I am and what I’m about”.
