NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Up-and-coming country music singer-songwriter Lainey Wilson is no stranger to hard work or taking chances. Born and raised in a rural north Louisiana farming town, Wilson moved to Nashville in a bumper-pull camper trailer to pursue her passion for writing and performing, camping out in the back of a friend’s recording studio as she steadily worked her way into Nashville’s tight-knit Music Row community song by song. Having garnered the support of WME for booking representation and landed an exclusive publishing deal with Sony / ATV in late 2017, Wilson continues to build momentum in 2018 with the release of her new single, “Workin’ Overtime,” to digital retailers and streaming services today, April 6.

“Growing up in a farming community, you learn early on that some years are going to be lean and some years are going to be abundant, but either way, you have to water your crop and take care of your crop every step of the way, and it’s the same with music,” says Wilson. “I’ve been writing songs since I was nine and performing since I was 11, so this is just something that’s in me that I have to do.”

Penned by Wilson and Rob Crosby (“Friday Night;” “Concrete Angel;” “She’s More”), “Workin’ Overtime” acknowledges the singer-songwriter’s “do it my way” tendencies while also nodding to the better angels of her nature and those who have kept her going straight along the road less traveled. Her distinctive north Louisiana drawl and innate storytelling sensibility have quickly captured the attention of fans and industry insiders alike, earning Wilson early praise as “a cautious optimist with just enough scars and pragmatism to write great, universal country songs” (Taste of Country) and “one of those voices who will grab your attention and keep it” (Whiskey Riff).

“Workin’ Overtime” is available now at http://smarturl.it/laineywilson. It is the first single off of Wilson’s forthcoming self-titled EP, which will be released digitally on Friday, April 13.
