NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With the launch of her “My Kinda People” charity, country star Lauren Alaina made her first donation to Friends Life Community, a Nashville nonprofit that serves more than 40 adults with special needs and their families, providing the additional support adults with disabilities require to achieve a fulfilling and quality life.
“What the people at Friends Life Community are doing is really amazing and something I feel really passionately about,” say Lauren. “I am honored to make my first donation from my foundation to them.”
On Sept. 19, Friends Life Community hosted its 9th Annual Songwriters’ Night at City Winery in Nashville with Lauren as the headlining performer. Proceeds from the event, including Lauren’s donation, directly fund programs offered at Friends Life Community which create opportunities for teenagers and adults with disabilities to develop socially, grow personally, and enjoy community as they experience life together.

Lauren’s donation to Friends Life Community stems from her new charitable initiative, “My Kinda People,” a philanthropic effort by the recording artist to generate awareness and support for those who need it most.
“I have the most amazing and unique job, and I have been privileged to meet so many people all over the world and hear their stories. Some of those stories are uplifting and some of those stories are painful, but all of the stories have touched me and left a lasting impression,” explains Lauren. “‘My Kinda People’ is a way we can all come together and donate to those causes that mean something to you and to me. We can each help in our own way.”
On this #GivingTuesday, Lauren is asking that donations be made to support Friends Life Community through www.FriendsLife.org/
