Liv Charette Releases Debut Single “That Kind of Song”

NASHVILLE, TN  – Country singer/songwriter Liv Charette is thrilled to release her debut single “That Kind of Song” today (7/17). The powerful ballad was penned by iconic country songwriters Andrew Dorff  (“My Eyes” (Blake Shelton), “Yours If You Want It” (Rascal Flatts)) and Barry Dean (“Pontoon” (Little Big Town), “Diamond Rings and Old Barstools” (Tim McGraw)) over ten years ago.

The rangy, sweeping vocals required, led Dorff’s father and the song’s producer, Steve Dorff on an eight year quest to find the right artist capable of singing the passionate song. Then, he found Charette.

Steve Dorff says, “This is one of those songs that is especially challenging to sing, from both an emotional and two octave range difficulty. Liv totally hits it out of the park!”

“It is nice to be able to showcase that side of my voice to go from super low to really belting it out at the end,” Charette said. “I love the visuals of that song. It’s not what you expect in the storytelling. I think it’s a very moving song.”

A native of Ottawa, Canada, Charette has made a home for herself in Music City the past five years and found a kindred spirit in Andrew Dorff’s songwriting, explaining it’s “all those songs you wish you would have written.”

An unequivocal pure love letter, “That Kind of Song” features lyrics such as: “Oh I Love The Ocean, But This Ain’t About A Walk In The Sand/Or Holding Somebody’s Hand/This Ain’t About Getting Older Or Trying To Be Young Again/This Is A Song About My Life/You’re My Life.”  Paired with Charette’s commanding vocals, it is a country ballad that evokes a range of emotions.
