NASHVILLE, Tenn. – This week People.com featured the exclusive story and photos of rising country music star Jenny Tolman and producer/fiancé Dave Brainard’s October engagement, despite both having nightmarish experiences in their recent pasts.
According to the People.com interview, in 2015, after hearing that her producer had been brutally attacked, Tolman realized the depth of her feelings for Brainard. “When you hear that sort of news about someone,” Tolman confided to People, “it solidifies everything you feel for that person.” Tolman herself had previously experienced “an extremely abusive and dangerous relationship,” the story noted. See photos and story HERE.
In the six years since, Tolman and Brainard have continued making music together, culminating in her debut album, There Goes the Neighborhood, released last year. Now Tolman is bringing new music to her make-believe neighborhood, “Jennyville,” in a big way — with none other than Grand Ole Opry star Jeannie Seely. Tolman and Seely duet on Tolman’s essential track, “Who’ll Be Your Fool,” one of three bonus tracks added to the newly released deluxe version of There Goes the Neighborhood.
American Songwriter recently presented the exclusive premiere of the duet, along with an article and photographs offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the recording at Sweetbriar Studio in Nashville.
Darlin, it’s time for the next one in line; tell me who’ll be
your fool when I’m gone.
“‘Who’ll Be Your Fool’” tugs the listener through a dazzling doo-wop waltz around the dance floor,” writes Jason Scott. “Strings gather in lush ruffles around her, with Tolman’s voice tangling with country trail blazer Jeannie Seely’s warm tone.” See the behind-the-scenes clip and story HERE.
Next on tap for Tolman? Just this week, she began releasing acoustic sessions on social media dubbed “Broke Down in Jennyville,” which will run every Monday for seven more weeks in May and June. “I wanted to show a simpler side to Jennyville,” she explains. “I hope fans will enjoy a real-life glimpse into my imaginary world.”
Jumping from the studio to the kitchen, Tolman recently found herself featured in the local EverythingNash blog, which reports that “Jenny knows how to make lemonade out of lemons.” After seeing her long-awaited inaugural album released to rave reviews, Tolman watched as the world began shutting down due to COVID-19. “Not one to wallow in self-pity,” according to EverythingNash, “Tolman immediately pivoted and [not only] set to work on creating a deluxe version of her new record, [she also] launched her own cooking series, Hey Good Cookin’,” featuring some of her favorite gluten-free recipes interspersed with live performances of her music. Watch her exclusive cooking demo for EverythingNash HERE.
This summer, Tolman will perform live at Country Thunder festivals in Florida, Iowa and Wisconsin.
