Hitting airwaves yesterday and officially impacting country radio on June 19, “When It Rains It Pours” marks the second single from Combs’ debut album This One’s For You released Friday, June 2. Co-penned by Combs, the winking, humorous twist on a break-up anthem showcases the talented young writer’s “grasp of Music Row songcraft (he’s deft at finding new life in familiar idioms) and his instinct for humanizing songs with his performances.” (NPR Music)
Earning early praise for This One’s For You, Combs emerges as one of Music City’s songwriting sensations applauded by Billboard as a “newcomer changing the genre.” Upon release, the highly-anticipated album shot to the top of the iTunes Country Albums Chart, currently holding the No. 1 slot. On the 27 year-old’s signature writing and soulful vocal stylings, Billboard remarks “Combs’ melodies — couched in a modern-country framework that folds in ’90s country influences, arena-ready sonics and hints of Southern rock — are consistently singable and interesting.”
From New York City to Nashville, Combs’ back-to-back release week continues as he takes on the 2017 CMT Music Awards as a first-time nominee for “BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST OF THE YEAR” for the “Hurricane” music video which has notched more than 33 million views to date. In addition to this week’s festivities, Combs joins the diverse, ranging line-up for Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival (June 8), returns to the East Coast for Carolina Country Music Fest (June 9) and hits CMA Music Fest (June 10 & 11) to round out the jam packed week. Following, he rejoins Brantley Gilbert and Tyler Farr on the road for the Devil Don’t Sleep Tour through September.
