Nashville, TN — Rising country artist Matt Rogers has just released a hilarious music video for his latest single “Billboard.” In it, Rogers and his band desperately try to catch the attention of a scorned lover with roadside signs — only to find mishaps at every turn.
The video is filled with plenty of fun easter eggs, from clever references to cameos from country greats, Shenandoah. Rogers’ co-writer Leigh Cara (of Sequoia South fame) even co-stars in the video. “Billboard” is the most recent single from Rogers’ album COAL, released March 18, 2022 on Vere Records.
“I do a lot of thinking and brainstorming for song ideas when I’m on the road,” Rogers says. “I have written several that either started or were finished behind the wheel. ‘Billboard’ was an idea I had driving by a stretch of interstate that had a bunch of crazy signs on it — I thought about how a modern day Billy Bob from Joe Diffie’s ‘John Deere Green’ would have to win his girl back after he stepped in it.”
The ensuing plan the band hatches is certainly clever and eye-catching. But can it catch the eye of the one person Rogers’ character is trying to win back?
“I put the storyline together and pitched the idea to my friend Leigh Cara just a few days later,” Rogers says. “It’s a fun story with some pretty funny imagery. We had just as much fun making the music video, where my co-writer stars as the scorned partner, while the band and I try to catch her leaving. I tried to sneak in a few 90s country references, and even got our buddies from Shenandoah to make a cameo in the music video.”

Rogers has been busy lately thanks to an ambitious release schedule and plenty of performances. He followed the release of COAL with his acoustic EP Capricorn Sessions, which reimagined the songs in one-take recordings at Macon, Georgia’s legendary Capricorn Studios.
