“If there’s one piece of advice I could give to anyone it would be to stay driven
and to keep on doing that thing that keeps your heart tickin’.” – Megan Knight
Nashville, TN – This latest EP by Megan Knight brings her vocals, lyricism, and instrumentals together in full force to tell the story of a complicated romance. “My Drama” EP has a little bit of everything. The EP dropped today on all streaming & download platforms.
It starts off with “My Drama.” The song has a bit of a rock vibe that gets you moving to the beat from the intro alone. The chorus has Knight accompanied by a male vocalist, and their harmonizing can emphasize the core message of this track and ultimately the EP as a whole: “I can deal with your demons and your trauma/if you can live with me and my drama.”
The second track, “Hard Way To Go,” immediately catches the listener’s attention with a crescendoing country/rock riff throughout the song. The track does an excellent job of capturing the feeling of striking out on your own with an uncertain future, paving your path without a clear map to follow.
“Novocaine,” the third track, slows things down slightly with its calmer nature. It gives a bit more of a weighty feel to the narrative. Megan ties in the numbness effect of novocaine and the numbness she feels.
The next track, “Easy To Forget,” has some of the most engaging instrumentality of the whole EP, with a synth-filled start and, later on, a ripping guitar solo that colors the track brightly.
Knight’s EP closes with the track “Take It To The Grave. This song is about how sometimes things are “better left unsaid.” This is a feeling many people can relate to often, and people don’t tell their lovers everything they want to, leaving them feeling “haunted.

My Drama EP Tracklist
1. “My Drama” – “A drama queen is something my family has always nicknamed me. I’ve always had zero to one hundred personalities with vivid ways of explaining, romanticizing, and dreading things. I co-wrote this song with James LeBlanc and Jimmy Nutt. With this song, I wanted to take the raw traditional musicality of the Shoals and fuse it with the Pop Contemporary sound of Nashville. I brought in a synth player from Downtown Nash to try to create something fresh by colliding the two different worlds.”
2. “Hard Way To Go” – “This single I wrote myself after being inspired by listening to Ohio by Neil Young; the tuning of that song had ideas flowing like water through my head. It tells the story of my life and the sacrifices I’ve had to make to pursue my dreams in this industry. It’s not an easy business to get into, but no matter what it’s taken, I’ve always felt I’d do anything to be able to follow my dreams.”
3. “Novocaine” – “Novocaine” is a title I’ve had jotted down in my iPhone notes for probably four years. As I sat in the control room with my co-writers while dreaming up this record, I remember proposing the idea, and it instantly struck them. There was something powerful in the title, and it sparked many different avenues of ideas. We decided to continue that character’s storyline in “My Drama” to eventually build a work of art at the end that flowed.”
4. “Easy To Forget” – When I first went into the studio, my co-producers asked what I was looking for. I remember saying, ‘I just definitely need something people can’t help but move to.’ I’ve always loved attending concerts where the vibe is so powerful, dynamic, and stimulating that people can’t help but move their bodies to the rhythm, and that’s exactly what the musicians helped me do with this next track.
5. “Take It To The Grave” – “Take It To The Grave” was created the first day I stepped into the studio to record the ‘My Drama’ EP. I remember reading off many titles I had jotted down over the years, and we all agreed “Take It To The Grave” would be an interesting story to tell. The song was written extremely fast and with eager ears; we began tracking the song on the same day of writing it. After building the track, we decided the process of recording this record would be done instrument by instrument rather than hiring a band to play our ideas all at once. The process of tracking this song began with drums being the bones and how the entire process of the EP was born. I liked having complete control of every aspect; melody, rhythm, and tones.”
