CONQUERS ALL-GENRE CHARTS WITH SKYROCKETING
NEW SINGLE “7 SUMMERS”
DOMINATES FOUR BILLBOARD CHARTS SIMULTANEOUSLY
HIGHLIGHTED BY LOS ANGELES TIMES AS “A THOROUGHLY MODERN SUCCESS STORY POWERED BY THE SONG’S RUNAWAY POPULARITY”
NASHVILLE, TENN. — From viral demo clip to all-genre chart contender, dynamite new release “7 Summers” is fast becoming a career-changing song for Big Loud Records’ Morgan Wallen. The “good ol’ boy with an easygoing sense of humor” (NPR) further establishes himself as “an artist…with a tone or take that shakes a format to its core” (HITS) this week, sitting atop four Billboard charts simultaneously and profiled by the Los Angeles Times on how he’s “pulling country music into the 21st century.”
Read the feature about “the country song that everyone’s talking about right now…by a guy with a committed mullet haircut reminiscing about the one that got away” here.
Debuting atop Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart this week, the TikTok-fueled breezer becomes only the fifth song to start at the summit in the history of the chart since its inception in 1958, and the first to do so since 2017. Adding the influx of “7 Summers” streams to his over 3.3 BILLION career total to date, Wallen tops both the Country Streaming Songs and Country Digital Songs Sales charts as well. Returning after its initial 114-week run to the top of Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart, his debut LP IF I KNOW ME is king again this week, rounding out the collection of #1 positions. The boundary-pushing Country player is the first artist to hold these four chart-topping spots simultaneously since Luke Combs with “Beautiful Crazy.”
Inside the Billboard Hot 100’s all-genre Top 10 this week, Wallen becomes only the second Top 10 Hot 100 debut for a song by a solo male with no accompanying acts that has appeared on Hot Country Songs – the last Country male to claim the honor was Garth Brooks. Wallen’s historic run “cements his crossover appeal” (Rolling Stone), shattering first day streaming records at both Apple Music and Spotify, and attaining the highest position for a solo Country track since the inception of Rolling Stone’s RS 100 chart this week at #3.
Written by Wallen with Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, Wallen tops the Billboard Country Songwriters chart for the first time as the sunset tinged single makes history for its producer as well. The “atmospheric” (Rolling Stone) and “pitch-perfect production” (Billboard) on the track earns ACM Producer of the Year nominee Joey Moi his first-ever #1 atop Billboard’s Hot 100 Producers Chart.
Listen to the inaugural episode of Wallen’s bi-monthly “Happy Hour Radio” show today on Apple Music Country from 4-6 p.m. PT here.
