Musicians On Call, a groundbreaking nonprofit organization that brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in hospitals across the country, teamed up with Southwest Airlines® to bring the healing power of music to patients in Nashville. With the help of RED BOW Records/ BBR Music Group Recording Artist, Brooke Eden, patients, families and caregivers at Vanderbilt University Medical Center were treated to a special Bedside Performance Program where Brooke performed her own song, “American Dreamin.”
The visit was the first of three special Bedside Performance Programs that Musicians On Call will partner with Southwest to host at hospitals with grant recipients of the Southwest Airlines Medical Transportation Grant Program (MTGP). Through the MTGP, Southwest provides complimentary, roundtrip tickets to nonprofit hospitals and medical transportation organizations to benefit patients who need to travel for specialized medical care. During the visit, Musicians On Call provided a personal Bedside Performance Program to one MTGP grant recipient.
“Musicians On Call is proud to partner with Southwest Airlines to deliver the healing power of music to patients utilizing their Medical Transportation Grants,” said Pete Griffin, President of Musicians On Call. “We are so excited to have Brooke Eden lend her talent to add a dose of joy to patients’ stay in the hospital.”
“Working with Musicians on Call has been a dream of mine for so long and I am so happy I finally got to be a part of this amazing organization,” said Brooke. “Being able to talk with the patients and share joy through music was an experience I will never forget. I am so grateful to Southwest and Musicians on Call for making this happen!”
“Southwest Airlines is passionate about connecting People to what’s important in their lives and our Medical Transportation Grant Program allows us to connect patients to the specialized medical care they need,” said Laurie Barnett, Southwest Airlines Managing Director Communication and Outreach. “We’re excited that by partnering with Musicians on Call, we are able to further support those deserving patients by connecting them to the healing power of music.”
Musicians On Call will continue its partnership with Southwest Airlines to provide bedside visits to grant recipients throughout the year, with two special visits planned for later in the year in Phoenix and Washington, D.C.
Later that evening, Brooke Eden performed for a sold-out crowd at NASH Icon’s Rhythm and Boots series, benefiting Musicians On Call. Curb Records Recording Artist Lee Brice, Musicians On Call’s first volunteer in Nashville, headlined the show.
All the events are a part of Musicians On Call Nashville’s tenth anniversary celebration including high profile hospital visits, a community engagement campaign and an intimate event in the Fall.
