“The syndicated radio show is really formatted,” says Dallas. “We do our Texas Turnaround and Super Pick features, our Top 3 Countdown, Country Music Headlines, and an artist interview feature. Camo and I are pretty tight on time, so our personality bits are limited. The Nashville Access podcast allows us to be really personality driven, bring a lot more of ourselves out and be a little more opinionated.”
“The format for the podcast is more of an outline,” says Camo. “We’ll pick a couple of stories from the world of country music and expand on them or talk about artists we like. Dallas and I will also touch on controversial topics and have longer discussions about them. We’ll talk about things like ‘what really is country music?’ or ‘who’s responsible for the rise of streaming music?’ We’re going to try and bring you the real ins-and-outs of Nashville and country music in general.”
This podcast will also feature long-form interviews with country music artists. “On the radio show, because of commercial broadcast time formats, interviews are reduced to shorter clips,” say Camo. “The podcast will feature full-length interviews. Our first podcast features the latest single and the full interview with Sara Evans, which is over 20 minutes and is pretty in-depth. Podcast listeners get all of it.” This is a great companion to the radio show,” Dallas adds. “But you don’t have to listen to the radio show to listen to the podcast—or vice versa.”
The Nashville Access podcast, featuring Dallas and Camo, is available for listening at www.Nashville-Access.com. Fans can also download and subscribe on iTunes and similar digital retailers. The first episode of the Nashville Access Podcast is available HERE.
“We’re excited about this,” says Nashville Access Executive Producer Holly Bell. “Dallas and Camo have built up quite a following around the world—and this is a great extension of the radio show. Podcasts—or on-demand radio are projected to have considerable growth over the next few years and we want to be there to expand our brand.”
The podcast will most importantly be tailored to what listeners want to hear. “We want to hear back from our podcast listeners via our social media to find out what they think,” says Dallas. “Camo and I are just a couple of radio guys trying to be funny and express our opinions—that doesn’t make our opinions any more valuable. We want our fans, listeners—and even artists to be a part of what we do.”
