“‘Then Some’ was the first song Walker and I ever wrote together – I believe we got it started in a green room when we were opening acts for Bobby Bones’ stand-up tour,” said Karmen. “From then on, it has continued to be the track that sticks out to me the most. I love to listen to songs with a fun play on words, especially when a song can be initially perceived as sad like this one, but then turns around to become an empowering breakup song!”
“This is the first song idea Nikita brought to me,” said Hayes. “It’s easy to hear why I was intrigued with how her mind worked and the unique sound of her voice. Really jacked about being featured on this track with her.”
“Then Some” marks Karmen’s fifth single release of 2020, including “The Start of the End,” “Even If You Missed Me,” and Hayes-produced “Came Close” and “Better.”
Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, the identical twin (her sister is also musically inclined) grew up watching her parents perform in 80’s band Hotel Berlin. Opting out of college to pursue a career in music, Karmen took a trip to Nashville for the annual CMA Music Festival and was inspired to make the move to Music City. She did just that after a blind audition landed her a gig with nationally syndicated radio host Bobby Bones, who asked her to make the official leap and join his band The Raging Idiots on the road. Karmen was previously with Black River Entertainment before signing with EMPIRE.
