Much-anticipated concert returns to Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium May 10, 2016
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With Georgia Tourism’s Year of Georgia Music in full swing, The Peach Pickers once again celebrate their home state on May 10 by hosting a star-studded group of friends for the 3rd Annual “Jameson Irish Whiskey Presents Georgia On My Mind.” Returning to the historic Ryman Auditorium stage this year are Luke Bryan, Randy Houser, Lee Brice, Craig Campbell and Maggie Rose, who will be joined by Big Boi, one-half of beloved Atlanta duo Outkast and New Orleans-based hip-hop artist, producer and DJ Mannie Fresh. The evening will include a special tribute to Otis Redding, the Macon, Ga. legend who would have been 75 years old in 2016. His sons, Dexter Redding and Otis Redding III, along with other participating artists, will perform a selection of Redding’s greatest hits. Opening the concert, which benefits the non-profit Georgia Music Foundation, are singer/songwriters Cole Taylor, Jordan Rager, Jon Langston, Travis Denning and Trae Landon, and as with the past two years, surprise guests are expected. Tickets are $49.50 & $39.50 and will be available via Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com, ryman.com or by calling 800-745-3000.
As songwriters, The Peach Pickers—Dallas Davidson, Rhett Akins and Ben Hayslip—generated more than 60 No.1 hits individually and collectively. As they prepare to host their third fundraising concert for the Georgia Music Foundation, Davidson, who chairs the organization, says, “Not only has the event quickly become like a family reunion for the artists, fans and sponsors, it is already making an impact in Georgia. With proceeds from last year’s concert, the Foundation launched the Georgia Music Preservation, Education and Outreach program and distributed more than $60,000 to 12 schools and non-profit organizations.”
“In 2016, which we are calling the Year of Georgia Music, the spotlight has been put on our state as a destination for live music and music heritage,” said Commissioner Chris Carr of the Georgia Department of Economic Development. “Through their chart-topping hits, The Peach Pickers have proven they know how to tell a story and each concert they have curated truly tells an impactful story of Georgia music—past, present and future.”
