Nashville, Tenn. – Emerging Country artist, Pearl Clarkin, has released her debut single, “Fishin’” to digital retailers.
Written by Pearl Clarkin, the alluring, mid-tempo “Fishin’,” conveys the story of a woman who dreams of a man that is able to lure her in and get her hooked, the man who will take her fishin’.
Pearl discussed how she came about the idea for the song, “I wrote the lyrics while I was at my family beach house in Florida. I was painting and pressure washing our deck when a friend commented very sweetly about a photo I had posted of myself working with no makeup. We struck up a conversation that led him to express how cool he thought it was that a feminine girl with a glamorous lifestyle enjoyed working outside or fishing in her downtime. Too often we feel pressured to project and maintain an image on social media, while what we want is a man who is attracted to us for our real moments also.”
Over the last few years, Pearl has earned a strong following through her countless performances at Nashville-based venues, The Bluebird Cafe, Commodore Grille, The Listening Room, and many others. At any given night, you can find Clarkin performing in Nashville or at large corporate events and festivals around the country. Some of the festivals in which she’s appeared are CMA Fest in Nashville, Summerfest in Milwaukee, as well as Bike Fest in Daytona Beach. She has opened up for a spectrum of artists from Charlie Daniels to Michael Ray.
Pearl headlined a hometown show in Pensacola Beach where she performed in front of over 4000 fans, friends, and family. Each year, she is a featured writer at the Pensacola Beach Songwriter’s Festival. By listening to her music, fans will notice that many of her songs are about north Florida, an area known as the Redneck Riviera, and the beach life; this influence comes from a tiny island off the Gulf of Mexico where Pearl calls home.
Pearl has been writing her entire life but began honing her songwriting skills at the age of 12 when she met Macy Gray at an American Idol camp, who told Pearl to send her music to Nashville. Pearl entered a song into CMT’s “Music City Madness” competition and was named a top unsigned artist. Pearl is now a full-time Songwriting Major at Belmont University.
