NASHVILLE, TN — A spotlight will shine on The King’s Piano Man this weekend at Ronnie McDowell’s Elvis Weekend event. Pianist Jason Coleman will share the impact of his Grandad, the legendary instrumentalist Floyd Cramer, on Elvis Presley’s live shows, recordings and movie soundtracks as a special guest this Friday, July 9th at the Ronnie McDowell Entertainment Center and Museum located in the historic Donoho Hotel in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee.

“Grandad and Elvis shared a special bond, starting when they were both just kids on the Louisiana Hayride. My family recalls that anytime their paths crossed in later years, Elvis treated Grandad with such respect and admiration. The feeling was mutual,” states Coleman.

This performance will be an opportunity for Jason Coleman to bridge the generations who have idolized Elvis’s music, not only in front of a live audience, but to millions of fans worldwide watching a livestream of the show at www.facebook.com/ronniemcdowell. The show begins at 7pm central time on Friday, July 9th.

Ronnie McDowell has continued to celebrate the impact Elvis Presley’s music has had on his own career of more than 30 top 40 hits. This weekend McDowell will dedicate four days to the music and memories of Elvis, June 8th through the 11th. And many of those Elvis songs featured the signature ‘slip-note’ styling of piano player Floyd Cramer. Coleman adds, “It’s going to be a blast to join Ronnie in bringing a little bit of that Elvis Presley and Floyd Cramer magic back to life.”

During his current tour, Jason Coleman entertains crowds with these hit songs and the stories behind them as he brings new life to his Grandad’s music. The Elvis connection is one of many chapters in his storied career. Floyd Cramer and Elvis met on The Louisiana Hayride during the mid-50s, In the years that followed, Floyd went on to play piano on some of the earliest and biggest hits recorded by Elvis, including “Heartbreak Hotel,” “It’s Now or Never,” “Crying in the Chapel,” and “Can’t Help Falling In Love.”

You can also hear Floyd Cramer’s work on several of Elvis’ movie soundtracks, like “Follow That Dream,” “Viva Las Vegas,” “Blue Hawaii,” “Roustabout,” “Girl Happy” and more.
