Six Runner 100-Mile Team Relay Race for Cancer
NASHVILLE, TN – In May, platinum-selling band, Sister Hazel, will take on the physical and mental challenge of competing in a six runner 100-mile team relay race for charity called the KEYS100 Ultramarathon. The 10th Annual KEYS100 Ultramarathon is a series of point-to-point races, beginning in Key Largo and ending in Key West, that includes four distinct competitions: individual races of 100 mi, 50 mi, 50 km, and the original Florida Keys six runner 100-mile team relay race. KEYS100 Ultramarathon promotes charitable fundraising for “The Cancer Foundation of the Florida Keys” in support of their educational work with prostate and other cancers, free screenings, and direct support of cancer patients and their families throughout the Keys. There will be an acoustic post-race show for race participants and a full band show that evening at the Waterfront Brewery. You can get more information on the race and donate to Sister Hazel’s Team: Lyrics For Life here.
Ken Block, Sister Hazel’s lead singer, explains why they chose to embark on such a big goal, “We all agree that our health and fitness should be a larger priority in our lives for the sake of our families, for the band, and for ourselves as individuals. We all wanted to take on something that is totally outside of our musical lives and comfort zone. We hope that we can inspire other people in the Hazelnut community and beyond to set big long-term goals and know that they can be accomplished with dedication, commitment, and by taking it one step and day at a time. In addition to raising money for “The Cancer Foundation of the Florida Keys,” we are hoping to raise awareness for our children’s cancer charity “Lyrics For Life” and “Camp Hazelnut.” “We will be releasing videos along the way showcasing our journey, watch it here.”
