Ray Scott, “country renegade” with a “velvety baritone voice” (PEOPLE Magazine), shows off his “wicked songwriting wit” (Rolling Stone) with “In Pictures” — a new song out now for Valentine’s Day via digital 45, highlighting the unfiltered reality of being “catfished.” “The Love Song” will serve as the B-side.
“I can’t believe how good you look… in pictures,” he croons on the first of eight tracks from Wrong Songs: Musings From The Shallow End (due out on March 31). Ray admits he wrote this comedic country album as a way of bringing levity to an otherwise bleak couple of years.
“I was lucky enough to tour all over the world as we came out of COVID and a common thread at every show was people wanted to laugh and not take things so seriously. So I got to thinking, then I got to writing and recording. Wrong Songs: Musings From The Shallow End was born.”
The Wrong Songs collection was meant to be cheeky, and though irreverent, the writing is clever and the music is hooky.
“I hope it brings a little fun to everyone’s day… I’m often inspired by the inauthenticity of social media — you can’t open Instagram or Facebook without running across something… questionable… and this was my way of bringing some of that to your earholes.”
