While accepting her award that evening, Archer was quick to joke how it took a mere 16 years to get to where she is at in her career, and used an analogy of a forgotten house plant that just needed a little water and sunlight to come back to life. View acceptance speech HERE.
When asked about how she felt accepting her award, she explained, “Getting an award from your peers at the historic Ryman Auditorium is definitely sweet, but having it be for your breakout year, after more that 15 years as a published writer, in a room full of your friends, just makes it that much sweeter. I am truly humbled.”
Archer, who writes for RED Creative, in a partnership with Downtown Music Publishing, celebrated her first No.1 single in 2016, co-writing the Brett Young hit,“Sleep Without You,” as well as chart-toppers, “Somebody Else Will,” for Justin Moore and Chris Lane’s “For Her.”
“Kelly is so deserving to win this category. It’s great to see her recognized by all of the publishers and songwriters that have chosen to honor her with this award,” says RED Creative Group’s Owner, Jeremy Stover. “RED is thrilled to be a part of her career. The future is definitely bright for Kelly!”
