NASHVILLE, Tenn.  — Rising country artist, Renee Blair, knew she wanted to burst onto the Country music scene with an honest portrayal of who she was: a twenty-something who has had her fair share of heartbreaks, late nights, and talking herself out of bad decisions. Today, Blair boldly steps out from the writer’s room with the independent release her first ‘autobiographical’ single, “Gotta Quit Drinkin;” available on all digital platforms, today.

“Gotta Quit Drinkin” (executive-produced by GRAMMY Award winner Shane McAnally) was written by Blair, Matt McGinn and Kylie Sackley on a day when Blair walked into the writer’s room in tears over “dumb boys, and how much dumber she acted over them.”That day, they landed on one fact: drinking, mixed with a broken heart and a phone, is always a disaster. From there, the  song developed into something Blair feels is anthemic for that time in her life.

“I am so excited to share this song. ‘Gotta Quit Drinkin’ is so personal to me and is a shameless tale I think many people could tell in today’s world.” said Blair. “It is one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written, and being able to release music that is this honest and vulnerable is a dream come true. I hope you can relate to this song, and I hope you love it.”

Originally from St. Louis, Mo., Blair was raised on everything from the Dixie Chicks to Mariah Carey, and Shania Twain to Nelly, whose success was especially inspiring as she witnessed a hometown boy make it big. Rooted in these influences, she began writing songs as a teenager, but it wasn’t until back-to-back, life-threatening accidents that Renee got serious about pursuing her career in music.

In 2016, Blair signed a publishing and production deal with SMACKSongs, an award-winning, independent music publishing company in Nashville led by GRAMMY Award winning producers and songwriters, Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne. She spent the next two years writing and recording for her forthcoming EP, produced by McAnally, McGinn and Jordan Schmidt.

With today’s release of “Gotta Quit Drinkin,” and more music to drop later this summer, Blair will hit the road for select dates. For more information, visit www.iamreneeblair.com.
