Signature Red Piano and Western Music Hall of Famer Light Up CabaRay Nashville This Weekend
NASHVILLE, TN — Glitz, humor and a western legacy fill Ray Stevens’ CabaRay Nashville this weekend on Nashville’s PBS station, WNPT. Rex Allen Jr. guests on the popular musical/variety show on Saturday, November 4th at 6:30pm central time.
This appearance marks Allen Jr.’s retirement from touring. Old friends Ray Stevens and Rex Allen Jr. swapped cowboy stories leading into a salute to the singer’s father and Rex Allen Jr.’s own hit songs.
The 30-minute weekly program was taped in front of a live audience with Ray Stevens’ signature red grand piano and a full orchestra. The show is rounded out with Stevens’ comedy sketches.
Rex Allen Jr. was recently awarded the CMA of Texas Living Legend Award and their Song of the Year honor for his song, “Where Are The Heroes.”
The entertainer attended the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering in Fort Worth, Texas before heading to New Mexico in preparation for the annual Western Music Association Convention and Award show where he is nominated in the categories of Male Performer, Entertainer, Song (“Call of the Canyon”)and Album of the Year (“Garage Songs X:This Is The Last Cowboy Song.”). Winners will be announced November 11, 2017.
The Academy of Western Artists has also recognized Rex Allen Jr with nominations for their 22nd Annual Will Rogers Awards coming up in the spring of 2018. The nominations include Western Music Male, Western Music Album (Garage Songs X: “This Is The Last Cowboy Song”) and Western Music Song (“The Call of the Canyon”).
