Country Artist and Combat Veteran Ryan Weaver will Make History as the Duke Blue Devil’s Kick Off their Season at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, NC on Friday, August 31
NASHVILLE, TN – Country music artist and U.S. Army combat veteran Ryan Weaver is set to perform a special halftime show during the home opener for Duke University during the Duke Blue Devils vs. Army Black Knights NCAA football game tomorrow, Friday, August 31 at Wallace Wade Stadium. Weaver’s performance will be the first live act in history for a Duke University halftime show outside the university band or university-related music.
“I’m honored to be the first non-university live performance at a Duke University halftime show,” said Ryan Weaver. “I love college football and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to perform my original music like ‘That’s What America Means to Me’ where we’ve been lighting up arenas around the nation for our heroes.”
Weaver is a high-energy, all-American, rockin’ country music artist who proudly served as an active duty Black Hawk Aviator, Chief Warrant Officer 3, United States Army. His determination to succeed, because of the ultimate sacrifices by others, fuels his fire to accomplish his dreams in music.
Weaver recorded the first single of the album “Songs That Save Our Lives“ with the West Point Military Academy’s Benny Havens Band and the song was short-listed for a GRAMMY Award consideration.
For their season opener, the Duke Blue Devils will face the Army Black Knights with featured special events to include a pregame ceremonial flyover with a Bandit Flight Team of CJ-6 and Yak-52 Aircrafts that will fly in formation.
